Mr Jonathan BellMr Bell FRCS, is a specialist knee surgeon whose expertise covers all aspects of the knee, including sports injuries, ligament reconstruction, tendinopathy and degenerative conditions.

A leader in his field, he is much in demand, particularly with all calibre of sportspeople, from the occasional jogger to the professional athlete.

With his research dedicated to minimally invasive techniques, he is vastly experienced with arthroscopic surgery and reconstruction of ligament injuries.

Mr Bell is also an expert in advanced joint preservation and joint replacement techniques. Above all, his clinical approach is focused on helping the active patient remain active.

He has a real passion for skiing and is heavily involved in the treatment of skiers of all levels – from beginner to Olympic standard. His recovery programmes even involve him accompanying patients on their return to the slopes.

Graduating in 1987 from the University of London, Mr Bell trained at a number of teaching hospitals in the UK and abroad. He received specialist training in the UK and Australia and is now working as a consultant at The New Victoria Hospital.

He also regularly teaches in the UK and overseas.

Mr Charles GibbonsCharles GIbbons graduated from The London Hospital Medical College in Whitechapel in 1989. Basic surgical training took place at The London, Bath and Stanmore before obtaining FRCS (England and Ireland) in 1993. He undertook specialised orthopaedic registrar training on The Chelsea and Westminster rotation gaining FRCS(Orth) in 1999.

He continued fellowship training in Australia in 2000 with six months in knee surgery at The Austin and Repatriation Hospital (Melbourne) and six months in adult reconstruction surgery at The Royal Adelaide Hospital.

He is currently a Consultant at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital who lives locally. His main area of interest includes hip and knee replacement and all forms of arthroscopic knee surgery. He has a special area of interest in arthroscopic knee surgery for sports injuries including ligament reconstruction and partial knee joint replacement surgery.

He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Association of Knee Surgery.

Giles Heilpern studied medicine at Pembroke College, Cambridge and Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals qualifying in 1999. He completed a 3 year basic surgical rotation at Guy's, Kingston and Atkinson Morley's Hospitals.

In 2004 he joined the South East Thames orthopaedic training programme. In 2009 he completed 2 subspecialist fellowships in Australia - a knee fellowship at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre and a shoulder fellowship at the Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre.

He started at Kingston Hospital as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in October 2010 with a special interest in knee and shoulder surgery. His knee surgery practice covers all aspects of knee surgery including arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, partial and total knee arthroplasty and osteotomy. His shoulder surgery practice covers all aspects of shoulder surgery including arthroscopic decompression, arthroscopic stabilisation, rotator cuff repair and arthroplasty.

He has a special interest in sports related soft tissue injuries of the knee and shoulder. He has clinics at the New Victoria Hospital on alternate Tuesday afternoons but will see patients at short notice on an ad hoc basis. He will try and see any urgent referral within 24 hours. Gil Railton has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Kingston Hospital since 1990, having qualified in 1977 from the Welsh National School of Medicine and completed orthopaedic training at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.

He is experienced in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee as well as arthroscopic surgery of the knee. He performs almost 200 primary hip and knee replacements a year, as well as a substantial number of arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions, meniscal repairs and resections.

He has several scientific publications on joint replacement surgery and trauma management.

Palanisamy RameshPalanisamy Ramesh was appointed as a consultant Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in Foot and Ankle surgery at Kingston Hospital, Kingston upon Thames in August 2005. He also conducts clinics at Molesey hospital.

Mr Ramesh underwent his higher surgical training in Orthopaedic surgery in the South East Thames region including Guy’s & St Thomas’ hospitals in London and completed a fellowship in Preston / Chorley hospitals. He was entered on to the Specialist register for Orthopaedic surgery in 2005.

Working privately at the New Victoria hospital in Kingston, Parkside hospital in Wimbledon and St Anthony’s hospital in Cheam, his areas of expertise are Foot and Ankle disorders, arthroscopy of the ankle, sports injuries and ankle replacement.

He was awarded the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle society’s (AOFAS) international travelling fellow in 2007 and DePuy travelling fellow in 2006 .This allowed him to visit and train with a number of Foot & Ankle surgeons within North America including Columbus, Galveston, Houston, Minnesota, Toronto, Rochester, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore. Ramesh is involved in clinical research and academic development and has presented his research at Orthopaedic conferences both nationally and internationally.
