The Victoria Foundation - Medical Support Transforming Lives
The Victoria Foundation is the parent charity of New Victoria Hospital. The charity provides life enhancing medical support to those in need and through doing so is helping to transform the lives of many in our local community and the wider area.
How We Help
The charity’s objectives are very broad, but firmly medical, with the overall aim of transforming lives where there is an opportunity to do so - either through medical provision or by ensuring that young people destined to become the future generations of doctors are not prevented from achieving this due to financial restrictions. The charity aims to provide medical support where it is not readily available on the NHS with a focus on funding:
Mobility Aids - giving disabled children and young people greater independence and confidence to help them to reach their potential
Accessible Transport Vehicles - helping to ensure the elderly and infirm are not isolated at home.
Bursaries and Toolkit Grants - supporting the future generation of doctors.
Medical Treatment - where the NHS or state is unable to.
The Victoria Foundation gives support directly to individuals and through partnerships with a number of charities, community organisations and institutions including: Integrated Services for Children with Disabilities (Moor Lane), QEF (Queen Elizabeth Foundation), Strathmore School in Petersham, RaKAT (Richmond and Kingston Accessible Transport), Extended Medical Degree Programme at Kings College, INS (Integrated Neurological Services), The Haven, Sebastian’s Action Trust, SMA Trust, and many more.
‘I would like to say thank you so much to The Victoria Foundation for helping me to get my day chair. It has definitely changed my life, for the better, ….. before I got this chair I had an NHS one, it was heavy and cumbersome, this one is the complete opposite, it makes me feel like a normal teenage girl and without your charity I wouldn't have got this chair, at least not for a very long time. …’ Anna, Twickenham
‘As always, thank you so much on behalf of all the thousands of people you help.’ Richmond and Kingston Accessible Transport – RaKAT
‘I would like to thank you for providing us with essential books as these books will benefit us greatly for many years to come.’ Students on the Extended Medical Degree Programme 3 at Kings College London
‘…. None of this would have been at all possible without the overwhelming support from The Victoria Foundation. They have literally enabled me to live. I will forever be grateful to them and would encourage as many as possible to include this incredible charity when considering fundraising. I certainly will. Thank you The Victoria Foundation, from the very bottom of my, and my whole family’s heart.’ Nic Steer
