Biography

Mr Ramu Muniraju is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at New Victoria Hospital. He began practicing general ophthalmology in 1995 and joined the NHS in 2005 at which time he began practicing cataract surgery and Retina disorders. To gain further expertise in Medical Retina, in July 2011 he joined King’s College Hospital for fellowship training and then completed his second fellowship in Retinal diseases at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

In August 2013, Mr Muniraju joined Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as substantive consultant ophthalmic surgeon with special interest in medical retina and holds private clinics at New Victoria Hospital providing treatment such as; 

  • Cataract surgery
  • Minor Eye Operations
  • General Ophthalmology
  • Diabetic Eye Disease
  • Macular Degeneration
  • Retinal Vascular diseases
  • Uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases

 

His current posts include,

  • Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with special interest in Medical Retina
  • Clinical Lead NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme, Surrey
  • Faculty at Skills Centre, Royal College of Ophthalmologists 

 

He has published articles about macular degeneration and diabetic maculopathy in peer reviewed journals
