New Mammogram Unit Installed & Additional One-Stop Breast Clinics
Published: 24 August 2015
A brand new GE Senographe Care Digital Mammography System has been purchased and is now being used by New Victoria Hospital's Imaging Department. The unit benefits patients as it requires only very low radiation doses. It is also allowing for more efficient screening.
The hospital is also now offering additional One-Stop Breast Clinics. These are run on Thursday mornings and afternoons as well as Monday mornings with our Consultants: Mr Robin Leach and Mr Giles Davies.
One-Stop Breast Clinics provide a thorough and accurate breast diagnosis. The triple assessment is a series of diagnostic techniques and the method chosen may vary according to age and sex. Triple assessment includes:
A clinical breast exam
a mammogram or ultrasound, or both
A fine needle aspiration or needle core biopsy if a lump if found.
New Victoria Hospital is a BUPA Accredited Breast Care Centre and as such, rigorously audited for quality.
