Biography
Dr John Chinegwundoh was born locally and grew up in South London. After leaving Dulwich College, he went up to Cambridge University, and graduated from Emmanuel College with a First Class Honours Degree in Medicine.
Since becoming a doctor in 1994, he has rotated through various posts in his training and gained a wide body of experience. He worked in a number of prestigious hospitals including the Royal Brompton, Guy’s and St Thomas’, the Hammersmith, Royal Free and University College. He also won a competitive Medical Scholarship and spent three years on an International Fellowship at the world-renowned Columbia University in New York completing his Doctorate degree.
Following on from his research studying the immune system and the lung, he has particular strong interests in Cough, COPD, Asthma, Interstitial Lung Disease and Respiratory Infections.
Dr Chinegwundoh became a Consultant Respiratory Physician in 2004 at Kingston Hospital. Following his colleague’s retirement in 2009, he is now the Senior Physician in Respiratory Medicine and more recently has been appointed Clinical Director for Respiratory Medicine.
His clinical approach draws on his strong academic background, with a focus on definitive diagnosis and delivering tailor-made care with a personal touch. He devotes time to explaining the diagnosis and possible treatment options.
His secretary is based on site at the hospital, providing a seamless service with regards to enquiries, billing and appointments.
