Having completed core training in clinical radiology at St. George’s Hospital, Dr Jawad completed her fellowship in head and neck imaging and was subsequently appointed as a substantive consultant at UCLH, which together with the sister units at the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital and at the Eastman Dental Hospital forms the largest head and neck unit in the UK. She graduated with distinction in clinical practice and clinical sciences from Imperial College London.
She has extensive experience in multimodality imaging of the head and neck for both adult and paediatric patients for the whole range of head and neck subspecialties, including oncology, rhinology, otology, audiovestibular disease, oral medicine and thyroid and parathyroid disease. Dr Jawad is able to offer the whole spectrum of ultrasound guided interventions to the head and neck including FNAs and core biopsies of the thyroid, cervical lymph nodes, soft tissue masses of the neck and the major salivary glands and she was the third radiologist in the UK to practice ultrasound guided radiofrequency ablation of benign thyroid nodules.
Dr Jawad is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists and a member of the British Society of Head and Neck Imaging and the European Society of Head and Neck Radiology. She has co-authored radiological textbooks, including in the field of head and neck imaging and has lead a course teaching head and neck ultrasound to other ultrasound practitioners.
