Biography

Dr Jim Lurkins is an experienced medical practitioner, who currently works as an NHS GP in Richmond and also at the Rapid Diagnostic Cancer Clinic at St George’s Hospital. Recently, he has also added becoming a Medical Examiner for the Imperial College Healthcare Trust to his portfolio of NHS work.

Dr Lurkins graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2013 with distinction and undertook his foundation training locally in Surrey, with placements at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and Kingston Hospital.

After a year of practising emergency medicine in Australia, he settled back in South West London to train as a GP between 2017 and 2020, with rotations in paediatrics, psychiatry, dermatology, sexual health and public health along the way.

He is happy to manage all aspects of primary care, but his particular interests include dermatology, oncology and musculoskeletal issues.

He lives in West Ewell with his wife, who is a paediatrician, and two young daughters. When not working or spending time with his family, he enjoys going out for the occasional run or cycle in the Surrey Hills.
