Professor Shaun Preston is an internationally recognised Consultant General Surgeon and specialist in oesophago‑gastric and upper gastrointestinal (upper GI) surgery.

His practice focuses on benign and malignant conditions of the oesophagus and stomach, including oesophageal and gastric cancer, complex hiatal hernias and advanced anti‑reflux surgery.

He offers a full range of modern surgical approaches, including robotic, laparoscopic (keyhole) and open surgery, as well as interventional endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. Professor Preston has particular expertise in managing reflux disease, Barrett’s oesophagus, achalasia, paraoesophageal hernias, abdominal and inguinal hernias, and gallbladder (gallstone) problems.

Professor Preston graduated in medicine from the University of Leeds and holds a Doctorate, in addition to being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has trained and worked in leading oesophago‑gastric centres in the UK, Japan and the USA, and has received national and international awards for his contribution to oesophago‑gastric cancer care and enhanced recovery after oesophagectomy.

Alongside his clinical work, he is Honorary Professor of Oesophago‑Gastric & Robotic Surgery at the University of Surrey and Visiting Professor at Jaber Al‑Ahmad Al‑Sabah Hospital in Kuwait.
