Biography

Dr Andrew Marshall is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist based in South West London. He studied medicine at Downing College, Cambridge University and completed his postgraduate specialist training in cardiology in London, including a period of clinical research at Harefield Hospital leading to the award of an MD from the University of Cambridge. He has written numerous research papers related to his MD, which have been presented nationally and internationally, and published in prestigious peer-reviewed journals including Heart and the American Journal of Cardiology.  

Dr Marshall’s current NHS practice is based at Kingston & Richmond NHS Foundation Trust where he leads the echocardiography and heart valve service. He was previously appointed Consultant Cardiologist at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in 2014, successfully leading the echocardiography, heart failure and adult congenital heart disease services. He moved to Kingston Hospital in 2022. He is a council member and the Treasurer of the British Heart Valve Society.

Dr Marshall has expertise in all aspects of general cardiology, but his main subspecialty interests are in cardiac imaging (transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular CT and MRI), heart valve disease and heart failure. He also has extensive experience in the care of adults with congenital heart disease. He is accredited in echocardiography, cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology, and has also trained in cardiac MRI.

Dr Marshall has dual accreditation in Cardiology and General (Internal) Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr Marshall has a passion for medical education and has been a recent examiner for the MRCP PACES examination, a member of the Cardiology Council of the Royal Society of Medicine and has been Cardiology Training Programme Director for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery since 2021.
