Dr James Blackburn is a Consultant Anaesthetist specialising in Pain Management at New Victoria Hospital.

Dr Blackburn is Lead Pain Consultant at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  He is the co-lead for pain services in the South West London Integrated Care Service

He has extensive experience in treating Trigeminal Neuralgia with medication and a highly-specialised interventional injection procedure known as Gasserian Gangliolysis. He also has extensive experience in the management of spinal pain as well as other pain of musculoskeletal origin as well as complex regional pain syndrome.

He also has a position as the primary educator for intermediate and senior training fellows at St George’s Hospital in London and sits on the board of the London Pain Training Advisory group.

Dr Blackburn trained as a pain management specialist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and has been working as a pain medicine consultant at St George’s Hospital, London since 2005, where he liaises closely with neurologist and neurosurgical colleagues.
