Dr Markus Gess is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at New Victoria Hospital.

Dr Markus Gess studied medicine at Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, qualifying in 1999. He undertook his post-graduate clinical training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and General Medicine in London and also worked in academic hepatitis C research for 3 years. Dr Gess consolidated his specialist interest in liver disease working at King's College Liver Unit. His clinical practice includes gastroenterology and hepatology clinics and he carries out weekly diagnostic and interventional upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy lists. Dr Gess provides expertise in all aspects of gastroenterology and liver disease and he is an accomplished endoscopist. He offers comprehensive assessments of liver health, including FibroScan. He holds consultant posts at St George's Hospital and Kingston Hospital where he is the lead clinician for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Services and the Medical Day Unit.
