Biography
Dr Tom Malak is an experienced General Practitioner working across both NHS and private practice. He provides comprehensive care for adults and children from birth, with experience managing the full breadth of General Practice, from acute and undifferentiated symptoms through to long-term conditions, preventative healthcare, and complex multimorbidity.
Before completing specialist training in General Practice, Dr Malak undertook extensive surgical training, including higher specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. He holds both MRCS and MRCGP qualifications. This background gives him particular expertise in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal problems, including joint and soft-tissue conditions, and he performs joint injections where clinically appropriate.
Dr Malak is also an internationally board-certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician, with certification from both the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. He has a particular interest in preventative medicine, cardiovascular and metabolic health, weight management, physical activity, sleep, and helping patients make sustainable changes that improve their long-term health. His approach combines conventional General Practice with evidence-based lifestyle and preventative medicine, allowing both existing health problems and future risk to be considered together.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) from the University of Oxford, where his research focused on medical device epidemiology and the evaluation of medical interventions. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed medical literature and remains involved in research, digital healthcare, and clinical artificial intelligence alongside his clinical practice.
Dr Malak's approach is comprehensive and evidence-based, with an emphasis on understanding the patient's priorities, establishing a clear diagnosis and management plan, and considering both immediate treatment and longer-term health.
