Biography
Mr Michael Jarrett is a Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgical Consultant at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust, appointed in 2009.
He trained at both Cambridge and Oxford Medical Schools, where he also played 5 years of First Class County cricket, before undertaking surgical training in Bath, Bristol and on the Oxford rotation as a registrar. He was awarded an Ethicon Laparoscopic Fellowship.
His research was on the role of Sacral Nerve Stimulation in defaecatory disorders and was carried out at St. Mark’s Hospital, London. He published widely on the subject, helped to write the NICE guidelines and was awarded an MD at Oxford for this work as well as the Arris and Gale Lectureship by the Royal College of Surgeons.
His interests lie in hernia surgery (inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional), proctology (fistula, fissure and haemorrhoid surgery) as well as upper and lower GI endoscopy (colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and gastroscopy), other intra-abdominal complaints and faecal incontinence.
He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and Association of Coloproctology.
