Although we often associate ageing with illness and frailty most will grow older relatively fit and healthy. Illness in older age can be complicated by a number of co-existing chronic diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, strokes, lung conditions, arthritis, diabetes, thyroid, Parkinson's Disease, Dementia etc. These diseases and the side effects of the drugs used in their treatment often present with frailty, falls, confusion, incontinence, immobility leading to inability to cope and sometimes to loss of independence. Geriatric services at New Victoria Hospital cover all of these illnesses and side effects.

You can use our geriatric services to diagnose and treat reversible medical conditions and slow the progression of chronic conditions.
