Here at New Victoria Hospital, we are looking for a Theatre Practitioner to join our Theatres team. This role involves providing a high standard of professional practice and clinical care under direct supervision, as well as working within the theatre team to promote a good working environment. 

Some of the duties and responsibilities of this role involve: 

  • Implement basic nursing care independently.
  • Implement new/complex care with supervision. 
  • Practise in own clinical area of practice to agreed competency level. 
  • Implement research based practice.
  • Recognise potential clinical challenges and ways of dealing with them.
  • Develop preceptorship skills and actively support peers.
  • Develop supervisory skills.
  • Have a basic understanding of theatre budget/resource matters.
  • Effectively communicate with patients and colleagues. 

 

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of relevant clinical and professional standards
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT literacy
  • Understanding of legal and professional practice requirements within perioperative care

Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Surgical First Assistant
  • Experience supporting consultant‑led procedures (including orthopaedics)

Qualifications

  • ODP Level 3 or Registered Nurse
  • SFA Qualification (essential)
  • HCPC Registration (for ODPs) or NMC Registration (for nurses)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
