Biography
Mr Anil Tailor is a Consultant Gynaecologist and accredited Gynaecological Oncology specialist with more than two decades of consultant experience in the NHS and private sector. His practice focuses on the investigation and treatment of women with suspected gynaecological cancers and other complex gynaecological conditions. A key feature of his approach is that he performs pelvic ultrasound scanning during the consultation whenever appropriate, allowing many patients to receive an assessment, scan and management plan in a single visit. He has extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole), robotic, and open gynaecological surgery, as well as the investigation of abnormal cervical smears through colposcopy.
His particular areas of expertise include abnormal vaginal bleeding, especially postmenopausal bleeding, ovarian cysts, abnormal pelvic ultrasound findings, raised tumour markers such as CA125, cervical polyps, vulval lumps, unexplained bloating, persistent pelvic pain, abnormal cervical screening results, and women with concerns about possible gynaecological cancer. He also regularly manages heavy or painful periods, menopausal symptoms and patients seeking a second opinion regarding surgery, particularly where keyhole or robotic approaches may offer a less invasive alternative.
During his specialist training, Mr Tailor's research focused on the use of pelvic ultrasound in the assessment of ovarian cysts and the early detection of gynaecological cancers. This foundation gave him extensive expertise in pelvic ultrasound scanning, which remains an integral part of his clinical practice today. His research interests have subsequently evolved towards the surgical management of gynaecological cancers, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Mr Tailor's practice is deliberately focused on gynaecological oncology and complex benign gynaecology. For this reason, he generally does not see patients whose primary problem is urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse or infertility. He also does not manage pregnancy-related conditions such as miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or routine obstetric problems. Patients seeking care for these conditions are usually better served by specialists whose practice is dedicated to urogynaecology, fertility medicine, or obstetrics.
