After careful consideration, the Executive Management Team at New Victoria Hospital has taken the decision to cease offering Ophthalmology services to patients, effective 1 August 2022. 

Following a thorough evaluation of our operational structure, the Hospital has opted to prioritise increasing patient needs for different functional and rehabilitative surgery, including Orthopaedics, Oncoplastic Breast procedures, Gastroenterology, Urology and Gynaecology treatments.

The Hospital will be operating as usual until 3pm on the 24th December. We will then be closed until 6.30am on the 4th January 2022. Some services will be available between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Although flu almost disappeared throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, with the lifting of restrictions and return to normal life, it has started to circulate again, together with all other viruses responsible for colds and other respiratory ailments.

Its health benefits are numerous, such as improving muscle strength and endurance, reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke, and preventing obesity. Non-weight-bearing activities, including cycling, are an excellent way to strengthen the muscle and the lungs as well as being a good option if you have a musculoskeletal health condition, such as arthritis. However, cyclists often find themselves prone to injuries caused by a sustained suboptimal posture.

With elective gynaecological surgeries being cancelled or delayed and limited access to women’s health services during the pandemic, many patients are now in need of specialist care. We will dedicate a new online event series for Women’s Health to be held on Zoom in March.

Gynaecological procedures have experienced one of the greatest backlogs, and many women have been left to struggle with their condition and self-manage symptoms.
