Preventative Health Care for Women

Preventative health care for women is essential in promoting overall well-being and reducing the risk of serious health conditions. Regular screenings, such as mammograms, cervical smear tests, and bone density scans, help detect potential issues early, allowing for timely intervention.

Lifestyle factors, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management, play a crucial role in maintaining good health. Hormonal health is another vital aspect, with regular check-ups ensuring early detection of conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and menopause-related concerns.

At New Victoria Hospital, our dedicated team of specialists provides comprehensive preventative health care services tailored to women's unique needs, ensuring personalised support and expert medical guidance for long-term health and well-being.

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse: This can include conditions such as cystocele, rectocele and prolapse of the uterus or the vaginal vault.
  • Childbirth Related Trauma: During childbirth, some women may experience an injury to their pelvic floor.
  • Lower Urinary Tract Problems: Symptoms can include the need to urinate urgently, frequently, incontinently, or with extreme difficulty.

Breast Health

Early detection is key to successful treatment and peace of mind. While 9 out of 10 breast lumps are benign, it is essential to seek medical advice if you notice any changes in your breast shape or experience discomfort. At our breast clinic, we encourage women to be breast aware, and notice how your breasts change throughout your menstrual cycle.

At our women’s health clinic, we provide:

  • One-Stop Breast Clinic with same-day imaging and diagnostic results, available 48 - 72 hours after your appointment.
  • Mammograms, ultrasound scans, and biopsies for early detection of breast conditions.
  • Specialist Consultants in Breast Care to provide expert guidance and treatment options.

We now offer two cutting-edge treatment intervention tests to signal the presence of breast cancer in patients, the Magseed® Marker and Magtrace® Tracer. The Magseed® Marker, a tiny magnetic seed, helps specialists locate the cancer within the breast. The Magtrace® Lymphatic Tracer, a non-radioactive liquid tracer, highlights whether the cancer has spread.
