Urogynaecology is a subspecialty of Gynaecology that is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the female pelvic floor. This can include a variety of pelvic-based conditions such as urinary incontinence in women, urinary tract conditions, vaginal prolapse and female pelvic floor disorders.

Using the latest technology and up-to-date treatments, our highly-experienced specialists can advise on a range of Urogynaecological conditions. These include:

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

This can include conditions such as cystocele, rectocele and prolapse of the uterus or the vaginal vault.

Childbirth Related Trauma

During childbirth, some women may experience an injury to their pelvic floor. Speak to our team today if you have been experiencing prolonged pain or discomfort following childbirth.

Lower Urinary Tract Problems

Symptoms can include the need to urinate urgently, frequently, incontinently, or with extreme difficulty. Recurrent urinary tract infections are also a common condition we treat at New Victoria Hospital.

Breast Health

New Victoria Hospital offers One-Stop Breast Clinics with same day Imaging diagnosis.

Results are available in 48-72 hours from your appointment.

During your consultation with our specialist Breast Surgeons you will receive a clinical breast examination, mammogram, ultrasound scan or both and fine needle aspiration or needle core biopsy, if appropriate.

Step 1 – Specialist Consultation

If you are concerned about any changes in your breasts or have risk factors, you can book an Outpatient appointment with a Breast Surgeon at New Victoria Hospital. The specialist will listen to your concerns, ask questions about your lifestyle, family history, and assess your case.

Step 2 – Appropriate Examination

After a clinical breast exam, if there is any suspicion of tissue abnormalities, these cases are acted upon immediately. Your Consultant Breast Surgeon will book the appropriate Imaging exams to further investigate your case.

Step 3 – Tissue Biopsy

On the same day of your Imaging examination, you can be offered a tissue biopsy. This is a non-invasive procedure to collect a sample of your breast tissue with a needle, for a precise diagnosis.

Step 4 – Results

Results from a tissue biopsy may take up to 72 hours as they are discussed within a dedicated multi-disciplinary team meeting, comprising radiologists, pathologists, surgeons, and oncologists. You will be reassured and guided through the treatment options.

The Magseed® Marker and Magtrace® Tracer

At New Victoria Hospital we now offer two cutting-edge treatment intervention tests to signal the presence of Breast Cancer in patients. The Magseed® Marker, a tiny magnetic seed, helps specialists locate the cancer within the breast. The Magtrace® Lymphatic Tracer, a non-radioactive liquid tracer, highlights whether the cancer has spread.
