Speech therapy

Clinical Interests

  • Voice, swallowing, and speech/language disorders in adults, arising from:
    • Laryngeal pathology
    • Respiratory conditions
    • Stroke & other neurological conditions
    • Head & neck surgery
    • Trauma and/or psychological causes 


After qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist in London, Ms Owlett gained experience working with adult and paediatric caseloads in hospitals in Berkshire, including the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, and Battle Hospital, before becoming head of acute and community Speech and Language Therapy services in Newbury and surrounding area.

 She subsequently moved to west London and worked for a number of years as Head of Department in Kingston Hospital, treating disorders of voice, speech, language and swallowing in adults, and managing a team of therapists in both acute and community settings. As well as clinical work, she was also involved in  student training.  

After moving into Independent Practice, she sat on the Executive Committee of the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP), serving a two year term as Treasurer. She now holds outpatient clinics at the New Victoria Hospital and other private hospitals in the area, sees inpatients referred from the wards, and offers a limited home visiting service eg. to local nursing homes.

Miss Owlett runs two ad-hoc clinics a week.
